If you schedule your holiday for earlier in July or later in August, you will have more and better options. September is an amazing time to be on Martha’s Vineyard. The school kids have left and the weather is great. The thousands of people that descend for the Fishing Derby means most of the restaurants and shops are open.
If you are coming in the summer, you will probably not spend much time indoors or at your Martha’s Vineyard house rental. There’s too much to do, the weather is too good. It doesn’t really matter if the weather is a bit dated because you will not be there anyway.
Menemsha is known for its spectacular sunsets.

I have a son who would LOVE this location. It would’ve been instant babysitting as far as I was concerned.

We love this substantial four bedroom house for its sunny aspect and views over Katama Bay.

- easy walk to Katama Bay and the wonderful Wasque Beach;
- Fresh new modern farmhouse decor
- only 2.5 baths;
- you will need to take the Chappy Ferry to visit Edgartown and the rest of Martha’s Vineyard – either you love being remote or you hate it.
Watch out for the biting Sweet Marsh Horse Fly (aka Green Flies) which come out sometimes on Wasque but can’t be controlled because it is a nature reserve.
Being obsessed with tiny houses, we had to include this Edgartown AirBnB in the mix even though it’s not in the preferred usual tourist route.
Tiny House Love
If you have ever wanted to stay in a tiny house, this Edgartown tiny house is set near Senge Pond off the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven route.

Geographically West Tisbury stretches across the island from the North Shore to the South Shore. In the middle, you will find the Martha’s Vineyard airport as well as the Manuel F. Correllus state forest with its hiking and biking trails.
West Tisbury is known for its pastoral beauty. Lots of agricultural farms and horse farms are located in West Tisbury. From a rental house in AirBnB West Tisbury, you can have easy access to Long Point Reserve and all of its hiking trails.
